Galaxy Z Fold2 5G: Full Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is the folding phone to buy if you want a phone that converts into a tablet. Assuming, of course, that you have the budget to buy this $2779.99 device. The Galaxy Z Fold2 is a refined version of the previous Galaxy Z Fold. The 7.6” screen of the Z Fold 2 is now made from Samsung Ultra Thin Glass rather than the plastic of the previous generation. The front screen no longer has thick bezels like on the previous version and the Infinity O display (called Infinity Flex for this phone) has been integrated into this model as well. All of this, combined with 12GB of RAM, 256 GB of unexpandable storage and very decent battery life make the Galaxy Z fold2 5G a great folding phone - but only if money is no issue!

Pros

  • No longer a first-gen phone: The Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G is Samsung’s best folding phone yet. It’s a premium and well built phone with no obvious hardware or software issues, and one that should last you for the next two or three years.
  • Good Battery Life: Samsung is known for devices with great battery life that are also packed with features. The same is true for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2. Its bigger, smoother screen features a variable refresh rate that goes from 11 Hz to 120 Hz to combine power savings with performance. Optimizations like these mean that the Galaxy Z Fold2 achieves all-day battery life despite the bigger form factor.
  • A smartphone and a tablet: The Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is not only a great smartphone - it’s also a great tablet. If you want a foldable device that looks good but is also useful, look nowhere further.

Cons

  • Awkward form factor: When folded, the device is too big (slightly thicker than two phones stacked together) to fit into pockets or carry around comfortably. When unfolded, the device can feel a tad heavy after some time.
  • Very Expensive: At almost $2800 CAD, it’s hard to justify this purchase.
  • No expandable storage: While the the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G comes with 256GB of storage, there’s no way to expand or upgrade its size.
